Insurance, CDW, and Non-Operation Charges (NOC)
Our rental rates include standard third-party liability insurance. However, in the event of an accident, you are responsible for deductibles and business interruption fees unless you purchase optional waivers.
1. Standard Deductibles (What you pay without CDW)
- If an accident occurs, you must pay the property damage and vehicle damage deductibles:
- Property Damage Deductible: ¥50,000
- Vehicle Damage Deductible (Luxury Class): ¥100,000
2. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
- Cost: ¥3,300 per 24 hours.
- Coverage: Reduces your property and vehicle damage deductibles to ¥0.
- Note: CDW does not cover towing fees or tire punctures.
3. Non-Operation Charge (NOC)
- Crucial Policy If the vehicle is damaged and requires repair or cleaning, you must pay an NOC to compensate for the time the vehicle cannot be rented out. This applies even if you are not at fault.
- Vehicle driven back to the branch: ¥20,000
- Vehicle cannot be driven (requires towing): ¥50,000
- Tip: Upgrade to our Full Protection Package (¥4,500/day) to waive both the Deductibles and the NOC entirely.
Child Seat Laws & Requirements in Japan
In Japan, child seats are not just recommended—they are strictly mandated by the Road Traffic Act.
- The Law: Child restraint systems are mandatory for all children under the age of 6.
- The Penalty: If caught driving without one, the driver receives a 1-point penalty deduction on their license.
- Alphard Compatibility: The 2026 Alphard features standard ISOFIX anchors and top tether mounts on both 2nd-row captain’s chairs and the outer 3rd-row seats. [1, 2]
Child Seat Selection Guide
- Infant Seat (Ages 0–1 / Weight under 10kg): Must be installed facing backward.
- Child/Toddler Seat (Ages 1–4 / Weight 9–18kg): Installed facing forward with a 5-point harness.
- Booster Seat (Ages 4–10 / Height under 140cm): Raises the child so the vehicle’s standard adult seatbelt fits safely across the chest and hips instead of the neck.
